THE SAUER VALLEY in Moersdorf

Mia and I are cycling by the water.

“Whoever gets to the route marker first wins,” shouts Mia, and rides off. I pedal hard. But Mia is faster. Suddenly, she brakes. Her face is white. She is shaking.

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“There’s something there,” Mia says.

I look round: “I can’t see anything.

“There, there!” says Mia. She points to the water. Now I see it too. A terrifying creature is looking out from the water. It looks me directly in the eyes. It is making some very strange noises. It sounds like a cat.

“Quick, let’s get away!” Mia calls.

In the meantime, the skies are closing in. It looks like a storm is coming. As we go, I look round briefly: “I think we’ve escaped!”

Mia brakes hard again. I almost ran into her. In the middle of the cycle path, the strange creature is standing there again. It stares at us. We stand still, as if turned to stone. I’m getting goosebumps. Suddenly, a ray of sunshine breaks through the thick clouds overhead. It falls right on the creature. The creature starts howling. And breaks into a thousand pieces. Mia and I look at each other, terrified. The only thing left of the creature are crystals on the ground.

We decide to cycle on to the village. Out of breath, we reach Born. Someone comes running towards us. They are flustered.

“The Salt Man is up to his tricks again,” she calls out. I am puzzled by this, and ask what a ‘salt man’ is.

“The Salt Man lives by the water. Sometimes he pops up and frightens people.” Mia looks at me, and I look at Mia. She whispers in my ear: “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” I nod.

“Pure Excitement, on the Cycling Tour with Batty Volt”

Together with Batty Volt, you can go on an informative energy and resources tour. You will need to exercise not only the brawn in your legs, but also your brain. To make sure your batteries don’t run flat before you reach the Sûre Park (Sauerpark) with its adventure playground, we split the route into 4 sections. At each stop, you need to listen closely to Batty Volt and then solve a puzzle. Each correct answer gets you nearer to the solution.

You need the Actionbound app. You can download the app for free. This will take you straight to the puzzle questions.

INFOS & EXTRAS

PC3 Cycle Path – Moersdorf - Rosport

This section of the PC3 cycle path takes you over an easy stretch along the river Sûre from Moersdorf to Rosport. To make the cycle tour even more exciting, you can download the Actionbound app and answer questions all about energy and water. You can ride the route in both directions, as it is not a circular route. In Rosport, you can also switch to the cycle path on the German side and take the bridge in Metzdorf to come back to Moersdorf. That makes for a round trip of about 19 km.

Sûre Park Playground (Sauerpark)

If you are still not tired after your walking tour, you can let off steam in the adventure playground in Rosport. There are several great water-related games to play here: swings, slides, climbs, water-play, and much more. If you fancy a break and a picnic, there are recliners and benches by the playground.

“Déiwelskopp” Educational Nature Trail

If you prefer to get around on foot, then the Déiwelskopp educational nature trail is ideal for you. The 8.5 km walk takes you through idyllic orchards, past dry-stone walls and fields of pasture.
