Hagen Quartett
Hagen Quartett
For the 2024/25 season, the Hagen Quartet is focusing on string quartets by Haydn, Schumann, Janáček and Brahms. The programme also includes Mozart and Brahms quintets with Sabine Meyer and Jörg Widmann, and Schubert quintets with Julia Hagen and Gautier Capuçon.
The Hagen Quartet's unprecedented career, which already spans four decades, began in 1981. The early years were marked by competition success and an exclusive contract with Deutsches Grammophon. During these decades of collaboration, numerous recordings have been made to develop the quartet's almost infinite repertoire, giving rise to the unique profile of the Hagen Quartet.
For many young string quartets, the Hagen Quartet is a model in terms of sound quality, stylistic diversity, ensemble playing and serious study of the works and composers of their genre. As teachers and mentors at the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Basel Hochschule and at international masterclasses, they pass on this wealth of experience to their young colleagues.
.
The Hagen Quartet plays on old Italian master instruments.
After the concerts by Salzburg's ‘four world-class string players’ (Hamburger Abendblatt), there is ‘absolute silence for almost a minute, conscious of having experienced something extraordinary.T hat's how the press described it. All the listeners have in common ‘the one wish that it will never end’.
