Déi 5 Villercher

First Play of Rhummer Theater: "Dei 5 Villercher"

The project for the first play was initiated during the lockdown. An idea that grew out of the pandemic restrictions within the institution, particularly for the gospel group. The residents were not allowed to have visitors, participate in group activities, and singing was prohibited. The "Rhummer Gospel" group was therefore transformed into a theater company, with the participation of other actors who joined the group. The first steps were taken individually, during staff visits to the residents' rooms... A completely new activity concept had to be "invented": thus, the "Rhummer Theater" was born.

"Dei 5 Villercher" was inspired by the storybook "Das Lied der bunten Vögel" by the Ghanaian author Kobnan Anan.

.

It was then translated into Luxembourgish and adapted for elderly actors by Pia Hoffmann and Robert Bodja, supported by Henriette Dichter and all the teams from the "Support and Animation" services of the Centre du Rham.

The staging was directed by Robert Bodja, with a process of adaptation to turn this literary work into a theatrical piece specifically tailored for older actors.

What do the actors tell?

The birds sing and dance every day for the pleasure of the farmer on his farm. The farmer loves this and gives them a lot of food in return. One day, jealousy and greed take hold of the birds, and each one goes to the farmer’s clearing to try to take all the food for themselves. But the displeased farmer drives each of them away one by one. They then have to starve until they come to their senses and prioritize the community, harmony, and teamwork once again: The motto of the book: "Together, we will succeed."
